Dear Reader, Shrewsbury Book Club is a thriving, welcoming, free book club for literary lovers of all ages. Hosted by our founder, Nadine, SBC has grown from humble beginnings to now meeting three times per month.
You'll find us on the first floor of the cosy Floro Lounge, come rain or shine, where over 200 members join us each month to discuss our book of the month.
SBC's impact is more than just broadening our members’ literary horizons, it is a safe environment where people make friends for life.
The community of SBC extends beyond our monthly meet-ups; you may find us pottery painting, going to the cinema or hosting seasonal parties, author talks and much much more…

Each month our members vote for their Book of the Month (BOTM) on our app. The winning book is announced on social media, and we get reading!
Each month we focus on a different theme so we are sure to be entering new worlds and realms of fiction (and the occasional non fiction), keeping our discussions and reads different and exciting.

Our members meet at 7pm once a month (depending on the day you book, this will be the same day each month) and our evenings usually last for around 1.5 - 2 hours. During this time, we will chat about any book recommendations we have, share our thoughts on the book of the month and discuss the book in more detail on smaller tables of 4-6.

Then it is time to do it all again for the following month. Each month, members are seated with different people - this ensures diversity in conversations and access to a range of views and opinions.

building a community
We offer free monthly face to face meetings for three groups, providing the opportunity to discuss our book of the month in a dynamic space where members can explore new genres, discover new authors and connect with fellow book lovers.
We offer social activities outside of book club to encourage friendships and built upon the sense of community.
We welcome members from all backgrounds. Everyone is welcome.
