A book club is only as vibrant as its members, and this space is dedicated to the voices of the people who bring our discussions to life. Below, our members share what turning pages together has meant to them - from discovering new favourite genres to finding lifelong friends right here in Shropshire.
“From the first Book Club night I have felt like I belong to such a warm and welcoming community. Nadine is an absolute super hero for bringing such a fab community together and for her immense organisation skills! I'm reading so much more than I have in a long time and from genres that I would never usually read. Book Club is definitely the highlight of my month”
“I love being a part of Shrewsbury Book Club! I have made some wonderful friends through the group. We read a variety of books and I look forward to seeing what the different months’ themes and choices for the vote will be. I also appreciate the different social gatherings that Nadine organises from time to time (I’ve gone to Book 66, on the River Cruise and done the pottery painting events and had a wonderful time at each of them!)”
“I was so nervous before my first meet up because I came by myself and didn’t know anyone there. I shouldn't have worried at all and its now my favourite night of the month! Everyone was so welcoming from the second I walked through the door. SBC is a completely judgment-free space where you can share your honest thoughts on the book, laugh a lot, and leave with a full heart. If you’re thinking about joining alone, just do it!"
"What I love is that it’s not pretentious at all. Some book clubs feel a bit like a school English lesson, but this is just a real laugh with great people. I’ve lived in Shrewsbury a while but found it really hard to make new friends as an adult. SBC completely changed that for me. Nadine does a good job at making sure we sit next to different people every time and its always a good laugh, the extra social nights out are an added extra and always SO much fun”
